About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties assigned: Oversee all Point-of-Care testing within the medical center and associated clinics, including Glucose and Troponin testing.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures for ancillary testing procurement, service requirements, and CLIA license maintenance in off-site clinics.
  • Consult with clinical program managers to identify ancillary testing needs, analyze trends, and implement new technologies.
  • Provide expert advice, training, troubleshooting, quality assessment, and program consultation for ancillary testing.
  • Develop technical bulletins, procedures, training materials, and other documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation.
  • Evaluate ancillary testing activities for ongoing compliance, identify and resolve complex issues, and improve management programs.
  • Prepare and review monthly Quality Control reports, take corrective actions for outliers, and ensure performance stays within limits.
  • Review critical value outliers performed by nursing staff and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Apply knowledge of accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements to validate instruments, recommend policy changes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate inventory management, supply acquisition, and contracts for ancillary testing.
  • Participate as a member of the national Ancillary Testing Committee.
  • Serve as an expert advisor and consultant for complex reference laboratory testing, including molecular/DNA/genetic testing, bone marrow exams, and flow cytometry.
  • Advise organizational levels on specialized testing appropriateness and alternative methods.
  • Analyze trends, adopt new testing methods, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
