About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0810-12, Civil Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC-CEU JUNEAU DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION SECTION A in JUNEAU, Alaska.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a Civil Engineer/Project Manager within a multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering team and be responsible for new construction of CG facilities or repair, maintenance, modification or renovation of existing facilities.
  • The incumbent will serve as the project point of contact for customers, activity, command, and contracting teams.
  • The incumbent will serve as a civil engineer for independent technical reviews, project scoping, field investigation, planning, cost estimating, problem and conflict resolution, scheduling, design production and construction.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Planning specific objectives, milestones, and phases for complex projects, and makes needed innovations and modifications.
  • Providing detailed technical decisions regarding scope, intent and extent of the work.
  • Conceiving, analyzing, designing, planning, and executing large and/or complex designs for diverse range of engineering projects.
  • Overseeing AE design efforts and deliverables from conceptual to final product to include: plan reviews, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy.
  • Providing authoritative technical advice and guidance to the contractor performing work required by the contract.
  • Reviewing, advising on, and conducting complex analysis and development studies in support of major organization programs, including analysis of novel, unprecedented, or controversial problems.
