This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the St Paul District, Engineering and Construction Division.
What You'll Do
- →Apply professional engineering knowledge's and experience in the performance of a full range of hydraulic and hydrologic investigative, study, and reporting assignments required as an integral part of the total engineering process.
- →Analyze full range of hydraulic and hydrologic problems involved in complex flood protection planning, including the determination of design water surface profiles and interior flood control facilities pertinent to the study area.
- →Obtain first-hand information on conditions influencing type and extent of hydrologic and hydraulic investigation necessary for flood control projects.
- →Analyze existing and anticipated conditions connected with design or modification of hydraulic features of large projects (i.e., spillways, outlet works, and stilling basins).
- →Perform hydrology studies and investigations to include discharge-frequency analysis for gaged and ungaged streams; application of unit hydrograph theory and rainfall-runoff relations.
- →Perform hydrology studies and investigations to include determination of design storm hydrographs and related hydrologic design criteria.
- →Conduct hydraulic design, channel, bank stabilization and erosion studies for complex levee and channel projects.
- →Conduct sediment transport studies to evaluate and minimize adverse impacts on levee, channel, and navigation projects.
- →Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies for complex environmental enhancement projects.
- →Evaluates existing hydrologic and hydraulic conditions at proposed environmental enhancement sites.
- →Conduct hydraulic analysis and design of navigation structures including wing dams, submerged weirs, channel closures, and lock and dam features.
- →Compose narrative reports concerning studies by utilizing concise form and language appropriate for target audiences.
- →Provide technical guidance to, and review for technical adequacy the work of lower graded personnel peers and consulting engineers for hydrologic and hydraulic studies.
