As a Chief of Staff, you will oversee the complex administrative responsibilities of the office, serve as an expert consultant on broad projects and programs, and provide advice and guidance to senior management on sensitive issues.

What You'll Do

  • Direct and oversee complex administrative operations of the Chief Counsel’s office by managing supervisors and staff responsible for resource management, mission support, data analytics, systems, budgeting, and records management.
  • Exercise discretion in handling sensitive and complex personnel matters, including resolving subordinate complaints, making informed decisions, and processing official grievances.
  • Serve as a senior advisor in logistics management and budget formulation, overseeing planning, execution, performance monitoring, and resource optimization across multiple accounts.
  • Direct strategic and administrative functions for office programs, including finance, human capital, communications, training, logistics, and emergency management.
  • Serve as a key advisor and strategic partner to the Chief Counsel and senior leadership, including the Principal Deputy Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel for Headquarters and Field Management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders on administrative programs.
  • Recommend initiatives and changes to improve program efficiency and effectiveness, and develop long-term plans, goals, objectives, and milestones for program enhancement.

Requirements

  • Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  • This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S.
  • Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
  • Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position.
  • You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
