Chief of Behavioral Health Service Line (Psychologist)

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Chief of Behavioral Health Service (BHSL) provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership of the BHSL to ensure the Fayetteville North Carolina VA Coastal Health Care System, achieves the clinical, research, and education goals in support of the mission of the Veterans Health Administration.
- →The Chief, BHSL is accountable for the delivery of all health care by the staff assigned to the BHSL and is responsible for the administration, management, and leadership of the entire service.
- →The incumbent is accountable for the assessment of the health care delivery system that is impacted by BH services, as well as for developing a plan for the delivery of health care services to patients, consistent with the policies and guidelines of the Veterans Health Administration.
- →The Chief, BHSL establishes a climate within BHSL that promotes optimal patient care.
- →The Chief, BHSL actively participates in top-level decision making and policy design that impact the BHSL.
- →Participation is through collaboration with the Medical Center leadership, other service chiefs, and interdepartmental supervisors and staff.
- →The Chief, BHSL directs his/her health care program, delegating authority and responsibility, to meet both medical center and service level goals The Chief, Behavioral Health Service Line has responsibility, accountability and oversight for programs and personnel under his/her supervision including the provision of quality care which complies with accepted standards of clinical practice.
- →The incumbent is responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, recruitment and retention, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →He/She actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships.
- →He/She works in partnership with the union and adheres to EEO principles.
- →The incumbent supports facility and service initiatives, including cultural transformation and patient centered care.
- →The psychologist assuming these responsibilities is expected to be a content expert in Behavioral Health, visible at Facility, VISN 6, and National levels.
- →As such, the Psychologist serves committees and workgroups impacting policies and practice patterns at all three levels of influence.
- →The Psychologist is a resource for leadership at the Facility and Network, consulting on issues pertinent to post-deployment health, PTSD, technology and health, program development, research and academic development, and behavioral health at large.
