The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a highly-motivated and capable executive to serve as the Chief Information Security Officer. This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) General position. Positions in the SES are not graded. SES pay is commensurate with qualifications. SES employees are eligible for bonuses and awards based on performance. Veteran's preference is not applicable to SES.
What You'll Do
- →The Chief Information Security Officer serves as the advisor to Census Bureau executive management on all areas of Information Technology Security and is responsible for: Developing and communicating the overall information security strategy, goals and objectives with appropriate performance measures to support bureau and department security requirements.
- →Managing the monitoring and recording of the performance of information systems security initiatives.
- →Recommending courses of action and policies to senior management that allow the Census Bureau to securely meet its organizational goals.
- →Managing cybersecurity acquisition projects and budgets for a large Information Technology infrastructure environment; planning, implementing, and overall project management for cybersecurity objectives; and forming strategic partnerships to accomplish cybersecurity goals and objectives.
- →Directing bureau-wide automation security programs that comply with federally mandated security requirements and commonly accepted industry automation security best practices.
- →Travel Required: Occasional Travel Description: Travel may be required to attend or present at meetings and conferences on topics relevant to the U.S.

Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or National.
- ✓May be subject to pre-employment and random drug tests.
- ✓Initial Senior Executive Service (SES) Career appointee is subject to a one-year probationary period.
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- ✓You may be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- ✓Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
