Department of the Interior structures its Senior Executive Service (SES) positions into categories to determine the minimum pay for each position. This is a category 4 position. The minimum pay for this position is $186,207. Pay is set based on consideration of the selectee's current salary and other factors. Veterans preference does not apply to the SES.
What You'll Do
- →The position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at the Department of the Interior (Department) and reports to the Chief Information Officer.
- →The incumbent carries out the following specific responsibilities: 1.
- →Provides executive leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of information security policy and guidance.
- →Collaborates with bureaus and offices, oversight agencies, and the Congress on matters relating to protecting Interior's information assets. 2.
- →Serves as a key technical advisor to the Chief Information Officer, Departmental leadership, and bureau leadership on all aspects of information technology security.
- →Maintains the Department's IT security scorecard and briefs at the Secretary/Assistant Secretary/Bureau-Office Chief Levels.
- →Coordinates the Department's information security program at the executive level and below throughout Interior including meetings with Interior's management councils and CIOs. 3.
- →Ensures the Department is in compliance with all Executive orders and associated Office of Management and Budget directives and guidance.
- →Ensures compliance with Binding operational directives developed by the Department of Homeland Security, which are developed in response to a known or reasonably suspected information security threat, vulnerability or risk. 4.
- →Develops the Department's position on proposed IT security measures and policies which effect Interior's information systems including those supporting National Critical Infrastructure Systems.
- →Ensures that the Department meets minimum security requirements and standards promulgated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. 5.
- →Ensures information security policies, principles, standards, and guidelines are in compliance with government-wide standards, are implemented throughout Interior, their effectiveness is measured, and are coordinated with the Department's information architecture.
