About the Role
You will serve as a CHEMIST in the LABORATORY DIVISION of the QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT in the of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
What You'll Do
- →You will have knowledge of chemical principles, theories, practices and methodology sufficient to perform the full range of duties involved in the chemical and physical analysis and testing of various substances.
- →You will provide information pertinent to a variety of programs and problems involving chemical analysis for which established methods are not substantially applicable, inconclusive, greatly variable and sometimes unrelated.
- →You will have a significant amount of professional laboratory experience with a variety of instruments/samples in order to provide the level of authoritative responses and complex analytical solutions required at this level of expertise.
- →You will be assigned the analysis of materials that are problematical or where conventional methods and method adjustments have produced inconclusive or contradictory results.
- →You will use your extensive knowledge and experience of analytical methods and instrumentation to develop the best analytical approach to the problem.
- →You will plan and conduct chemical and instrumental studies of a very complex and difficult nature in support of regulatory ship repair requirements.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual.
- ✓Applicants must possess: Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
