About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Detroit Field Office, located in Detroit, MI.

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security.
  • This position starts at a salary of $120,657.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to$156,857.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
  • In accordance with CBP Directive No. 1335-018, U.S.
  • Customs and Border Protection Rotation Program and to meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 years, with possible extension(s) for an additional 2 year(s), for a maximum of 5 years.
  • You may be returned, at any time, to the permanent assignment within the Detroit Field Office.
  • The Detroit Field Office may utilize flexibility to place you in the same or similar position with equivalent grade and pay.
  • The return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771.
  • At management's discretion, you may be permanently placed to this position without further competition.
  • All Selectees will be required to sign an Employee Rotational Agreement as a condition of employment.
  • In this position you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals responsible for managing and ensuring the performance of the full range of inspection, intelligence analysis, examination, and law enforcement activities relating to arrival and departure of persons, conveyances, and merchandise at Ports of Entry (POE).
  • Typical work assignments include: Planning, leading, designing, and coordinating enforcement efforts with other enforcement program offices.
  • Developing and deploying innovative strategies to prevent the illegal entry of terrorists and their associates into the United States.
  • Promoting and policing management accountability and operational integrity, for border security initiatives by ensuring policy compliance for respective areas.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • For employees detailed or temporarily promoted for less than one year, the permanent duty location is considered the duty location of record for commuting area purposes.

  • Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess the Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle.
  • A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.

  • Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under the bargaining unit.
