About the Role

PLEASE NOTE: Based on the current hiring restrictions, selectees may be subject to additional approvals prior to an offer being extended. This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Financial Management Division. As a Budget Formulation and Execution Analyst, you will perform budget analysis, including formulation, justification, presentation, and execution.

What You'll Do

  • As a Budget Formulation and Execution Analyst, you will: Exercise independent initiative and judgment to interpret, apply, and develop new guidelines for administering assigned budgetary functions.
  • Advise program managers on the status and availability of funds in different budget accounts and all aspects of the budget execution process which apply to their programs, as appropriate.
  • Monitor the use and rate of expenditure of budgeted funds through continuing dialogue with program officials and their staffs, review of written documents, and examination of accounting records.
  • Prepare data analysis (e.g., statistical summaries, comparisons, identification of trends and patterns, documenting process flows, etc.) and presentations for meetings and briefings that effectively and accurately display program information to individuals or groups.
  • Coordinate with AC area offices and develop FS budget requests for the coming fiscal year considering changing objectives, work processes, staffing needs, and funding requirements for multi-year accounts.

Requirements

  • Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
