About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION WITH NO MILITARY REQUIREMENT. This National Guard position is for a BUDGET ANALYST, Position Description Number PDT6356000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard. This position is located in the Army National Guard (ARNG), Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), Office of the Director, RTI, Recruiting Command, USPFO Supply and Service or Command Administrative Office. Performs routine budget analysis functions in assigned areas.

What You'll Do

  • As a BUDGET ANALYST, GS-0560-9, you will perform routine budget analysis functions in assigned areas.
  • Work may be performed in any segment of the normal range of budget administration work performed by the organization including budget formulation, budget presentation-enactment, or budget execution.
  • You will also perform administrative duties such as time keeping, creation and submission of SF-52's, and serving as a liaison between the G4 and the Human Resources Office. 1.
  • Performs moderately difficult and complex assignments consisting of well-precedented tasks to further orient the employee in the application of occupational principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Assignments are combined with training to develop analytical skills and techniques used to resolve issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature.
  • Individual projects can be performed utilizing established, commonly applied methods.
  • Work includes various duties involving different and unrelated tasks.
  • Independently plans and carries out successive steps and handles problems and deviations in work assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices.
  • The decision regarding what needs to be done depends upon the analysis of the subject, phase, or issues involved in each assignment, and the chosen course of action may have to be selected from many alternatives.
  • The employee uses judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines, such as agency policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application to specific cases or problems.
  • The employee analyzes results and recommends changes.
  • Completed work is usually evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.
  • Assistance in solving problems is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist. 2.
  • Executes budget.

Requirements

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 3.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1). 5.
  • Incumbent will be required to complete training in fiscal disciplines; Fiscal Law, Resource Management Information Course (RMIC), Contracting Officer Representative (COR), Automated Fund Control Order System (AFCOS).
  • Must complete the higher financial management certification within 24 months of appointment to the position. 6.
  • Wear of the military uniform is prohibited while in technician status. 7.Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. 8.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. .
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma.
  • An undergraduate degree and/or a post graduate degree from an accredited college/university in NG finance; -or- in a combination of the following required disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management is optimum.
  • You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
