Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, Location Negotiable After Selection. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

- →This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

- →In this position, you will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and advisor on Border Patrol policies, programs, and operations, representing senior USBP leadership and integrating field insights into national-level planning and decision-making.
- →This directly enhances the effectiveness and consistency of Border Patrol operations and increases the likelihood of mission success.
- →This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
- →As a Border Patrol Agent (Headquarters Programs), you will serve as a secondary administrative law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8336 (c) and 8412 (d)) and be responsible for advising Border Patrol leadership on the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and operations.
- →Typical duties will include: Serving as a subject matter expert on U.S.
- →Assisting with mission-specific operational requirements projects, including documenting capability needs, developing concepts of operations, supporting technology and solution evaluations, integrating user feedback, and coordinating administrative, logistical, and training requirements.
- →Preparing managing and evaluating high-visibility programs and future objectives, maintaining knowledge of field-level workflows to inform analytically driven deployment and resourcing decisions, and ensuring U.S.
- →Border Patrol equities are represented in CBP and DHS governance, acquisition, and resource management processes.
- →Serving as a subject matter expert on U.S.
- →Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.
- ✓Temporary/Rotational Assignment: To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year(s), with a possible 2 year extension.
- ✓You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, to the last permanent official station and position held prior to this NTE assignment, and the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771.
- ✓If you are currently at the grade level of the position announced, this action will result in a reassignment, and you may be returned at any time to a same or similar position held prior to this NTE assignment.
- ✓If you currently hold a grade level higher than the grade being announced, this action will result in a change to lower grade, and you may be returned at any time to the position held prior to this temporary assignment.
- ✓A return to the previous duty location will be coordinated by losing and gaining sectors upon completion of the NTE assignment.

- ✓The USBP Rotation Program IOP dictates the terms of rotating out of the NTE assignment once the assignment has concluded.
