The Marion VA Health Care System is hiring for a Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor position. This position functions as the supervisor for the Boiler Plant Operators and Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic.
What You'll Do
- →The Boiler Plant Operator is responsible for general maintenance and operation of the boiler plant.
- →The incumbent coordinates and establishes regularly scheduled preventive maintenance and repair for boilers, safety devices, pumps and other equipment throughout the boiler plant, as well as prepares the boilers for safety inspections.
- →The work involves a full range of duties required to operate one or more utility systems of extremely large capacity and flexibility, having a large number of components, controls, gauges and auxiliary equipment to coordinate and monitor, which services a variety of specialized work activities that regulates and stops equipment and re-sets temperature and air/steam controls for proper humidity.
- →The incumbent will ensure proper operation, maintenance and repairs of the boiler plant consisting of three (3) boilers and associated auxiliary equipment.
- →Other duties include but are not limited to the following: Prepare boiler logs and maintain records (fuel consumption, steam generation, operating costs, etc.).
- →Inspect boiler plant and supervise upkeep, repairs, calibration, and installations.
- →Ensure compliance with VA regulations related to personnel actions, safety, equipment care, etc.
- →Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper use of protective equipment.
- →Assign and review work; establish performance standards and conduct appraisals.
- →Review job descriptions, recommend updates, and ensure compliance with industry and VA standards.
- →Identify training needs and ensure required training is completed.
- →Develop shop SOPs, conduct safety meetings, and monitor compliance.
- →Maintains and updates preventive maintenance procedure and inspections on a recurring basis for all equipment related to the Boiler Plant.
- →Analyze operations of the Boiler Plant to support, maintain and update information for the boiler Plant quality assurance program.
