What You'll Do
- →This position is located at the Department of Commerce OIG, Office of Audit and Evaluation (OAE), it involves a multi-grade career ladder.
- →The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-13; however, a selection can be made at any of the following grade levels.
- →As an Auditor, you will perform the following duties: Develops audit and evaluation guides/programs covering highly complex functions of a major Department function or multi-mission activity or develops segments of audit and evaluation guides/programs for highly complex agency-wide or major corporation audits and evaluations.
- →Plans work requirements to meet assigned audit and evaluations objectives to include developing timeframes and resources needed to complete the assignment.
- →Researches background information and applicable laws, directives, regulations, manuals, prior studies, and audit and evaluation reports to gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of area(s) pertinent to the audit.
- →Writes and develops major areas of audit and evaluation plans/programs clearly defining the scope of the effort and the steps necessary to accomplish project objectives.
- →Creates proposals for future audits and evaluations required by law, issues identified as high-risk or critical by the Department, and areas expected to result in potential monetary benefits to include scope and objectives of prospective audits and evaluations.
- →Prepares detailed working papers to document work accomplished.
- →Responsible for the evaluation of management processes and ensures ideas, facts, conclusions, and recommendations are clearly, concisely, and logically presented.
- →Responsible for summarization of audit and evaluations results and actions taken to address identified management issues.
- →Demonstrates an expert working knowledge of generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS); quality standards for Inspection and Evaluation (CIGIE); and the OAE policies and procedures; and complies with these standards for data analysis efforts.
- →Assists outside agencies, as directed, in the conduct of external audits or including laws and regulations.
- →The auditor uses professional judgment in developing an audit and evaluation approach and formulating recommendations dealing with a variety of accounting and auditing questions.
- →Such questions frequently require making assessments based on estimated input or projected situations.
Requirements
- ✓Must be U.S.
- ✓Citizen or U.S.
- ✓National A one-year probationary period may be required.
- ✓Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- ✓Secret - Background Investigation will be required.
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- ✓Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- ✓Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- ✓Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
- ✓For the GS-11 grade level, you may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral.
- ✓(Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.) OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
