About the Role
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Financial Management (OFM), Payment Accuracy & Reporting Group (PARG) As a Auditor, GS-0511-11, you will serve as an auditor responsible for the planning, reviewing and evaluation audit programs, providing audit guidance to contractors and sub-contractors in their reviews of provider cost reports to ensure program objectives are achieved.
What You'll Do
- →Perform analysis and evaluations related to aspects of accounting, management control and risk management.
- →Analyze audit operations to improve effectiveness through ongoing modifications including better internal controls, increased cost effectiveness, redesign of reports, or faster consolidation of data.
- →Review authorization acts, public laws, executive directives, etc. for CMS compliance implications; recommends the establishment or modification of policies and procedures which would ensure compliance.
- →Prepare appropriate audit reports which summarize results and contain recommendations to correct deficiencies disclosed by the audit/compliance review.
Requirements
- ✓Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements: Degree: accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
