About the Role
This position serves as a Senior Attorney Advisor in the Legal Programs Office of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA). The incumbent provides expert support, assistance, advice, and policy guidance regarding legal process and procedures for the United States Attorneys as it relates to all aspects of civil litigation, which includes bringing claims on behalf of, and/or defending the interests of, the United States.
What You'll Do
- →This position serves as a Senior Attorney Advisor in the Legal Programs Office of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA).
- →The incumbent provides expert support, assistance, advice, and policy guidance regarding legal process and procedures for the United States Attorneys as it relates to all aspects of civil litigation, which includes bringing claims on behalf of, and/or defending the interests of, the United States.
- →Legal Programs coordinates all aspects of these programs, including training, funding, legislation, administration, outreach, and programmatic assessment.
- →Legal Programs also develops and promotes policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of these programs and serves as a resource for the United States Attorneys' offices (USAOs) on legal and administrative issues affecting the programs.
- →In addition, Legal Programs provides advice and support for various subcommittees and working groups of the Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys.
- →General duties include: Initiate and maintain effective communications between EOUSA, United States Attorneys and their staffs, client agencies, congressional staff, Department officials and representatives, investigative agencies, and other agencies.
- →Develop, promote, and interpret policy and guidelines with respect to the spectrum of issues within assigned programs and areas of law.
- →Develop pertinent portions of the Justice Manual and United States Attorneys' Policies and Procedures.
- →Assess, and evaluate various policies, processes, and procedures to determine their impact on assigned program areas and recommend, facilitate, and implement solutions to ensure effectiveness and efficiency as it relates to the work of the USAOs.
- →Coordinate, participate, and prepare materials for training.
- →In coordination with EOUSA's Office of Legal Education and other Department components, identify training needs and advise on/oversee the development and delivery of training for the USAOs.
- →Recommend appropriate changes to operations and policies to ensure adherence with applicable authorities and to promote program effectiveness.
- →Plan, execute, and coordinate a variety of innovative and high visibility pilot projects to facilitate and enhance the work of the USAOs.
