About the Role
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan is seeking the best attorneys to fill positions in our Criminal and Civil Divisions. This is an open-continuous vacancy announcement that will remain open until November 30, 2026, or until the positions have been filled. Completed applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis. This is a term appointment not-to-exceed 09/30/2029. This position may be made permanent without further competition.

- →Serving as an Assistant U.S.
- →Attorney (AUSA) and assigned to the Criminal or Civil Division, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce federal criminal laws that protect life, liberty, and property of citizens.
- →The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan is seeking to hire AUSAs for our Criminal and Civil Divisions who will be assigned unique drug trafficking and immigration responsibilities.
- →Assignments include, but are not limited to, investigating and prosecuting the following: Drug trafficking, including trafficking of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals, and illegal drug use.
- →Immigration matters, including but not limited to: gang-related crimes involving aliens; child trafficking and smuggling involving aliens within the United States; unlawful voting by aliens; firearms trafficking and smuggling involving aliens; violations of the Alien Registration Act; and violations of or fraud relating to Title IV of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
- →Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
