About the Role
The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee is comprised of 55 attorneys located in three staffed offices: Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Greeneville. The Eastern District of Tennessee enjoys a challenging mix of cases, friendly and talented staff, and excellent agency relationships.
What You'll Do
- →The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong background in federal civil litigation.
- →The successful applicant(s) will serve as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the civil division.
- →Civil Division AUSAs represent the United States' interests in trial and appellate courts for a wide variety of federal and state litigation, including bankruptcy, civil rights, commercial, constitutional, employment, environmental, federal program, fraud, immigration, medical malpractice, social security, summons enforcement, tax, and general tort cases.
- →The selected candidate(s) may also be assigned to bankruptcy matters and/or affirmative civil enforcement matters.
- →The successful applicant will be expected to manage all aspects of civil litigation to include researching legal issues, drafting briefs, taking and defending depositions, conducting hearings and trials, and attending judicial proceedings.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
- →As needed, one or more positions may be filled from this vacancy announcement.
- →This position is located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
- →Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
