About the Role
This is an open-continuous announcement for Assistant United States Attorneys in the Criminal Division of our Macon, GA and Columbus, GA offices. This announcement will remain open until all available positions are filled. First-round consideration will be given to applications submitted by June 26, 2026, 11:59 pm EDT. Thereafter, review of applications received from this announcement will be conducted periodically to fill additional positions as they become available within the district.
What You'll Do
- →The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong criminal prosecution background to fill one or more Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) vacancies in the Criminal Division.
- →Our criminal caseload consists of white-collar crimes, immigration crimes, drug-trafficking crimes, and crimes of violence, including child exploitation offenses.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
- →Positions are located in Macon, GA and Columbus, GA.
Requirements
- ✓Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication.
- ✓This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
- ✓In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- ✓Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.

- ✓Selective Service: If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, you must certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System, or are exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law.
