What You'll Do

  • Attorney's Office for the District of New Hampshire is currently accepting applications for an Assistant United States Attorney to serve in the Civil Division.
  • The Civil Division defends the interests of the United States in civil litigation, pursues affirmative civil enforcement in a variety of fraud and civil rights matters, and collects debts owed to the United States.
  • The selected candidate will also defend immigration cases, including cases brought by detainees challenging their continued detention and cases challenging the government's denial of immigration benefits applications.
  • Additional duties may include bankruptcy, financial litigation, and asset forfeiture matters.
  • The office is seeking an experienced civil litigator who has a strong background in federal and/or state litigation, including trial experience.
  • Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
  • Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
