About the Role

Our mission is to enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States, provide Federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime, seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior, and to administer and enforce the Nation's laws to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans. This position is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

What You'll Do

  • Our mission is to protect and serve the citizens of the Northern District of Oklahoma through the ethical, vigorous, and impartial enforcement of federal law.
  • Attorney's Office represents the United States and its client agencies in civil and criminal litigation before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma and in appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
  • Attorney's Office is accepting applications for the position of an Assistant United States Attorney to serve in the Civil Division.
  • The attorney selected for this position will work closely with federal agency and law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute civil enforcement cases involving fraud, waste, and abuse in government healthcare programs, procurement, and other services.
  • The attorney will also handle defensive torts (including property damage and personal injury claims, such as medical malpractice cases), employment discrimination, land condemnations, foreclosures, defensive environmental claims, challenges to agency actions, and bankruptcy.
  • Civil Division AUSAs actively prosecute or defend civil cases at all stages of the investigation and litigation processes including at the trial and appellate levels.
  • Civil Division AUSAs also take depositions, prepare and answer discovery requests, negotiate settlements, engage in motions practice, conduct trials, draft appellate briefs, and argue cases before appellate judges.
  • Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
  • Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
