About the Role
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for the Surgical Specialty Clinics is a registered professional nurse who serves as an assistant with line authority to the Surgical Specialty Clinics Nurse Manager located in Gainesville, FL, providing leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff.
What You'll Do
- →The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age-specific components.
- →Functions or scope of assigned duties include, but are not limited to: Develops and manages collaborative partnerships with nursing, physicians, and other clinicians.
- →Serves as a mentor for less experienced nurses, other RNs in expanded roles, and/or students.
- →Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
- →Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
- →Promotes an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organization's vision and mission.
- →Directs and organizes patient flow in assigned area.
- →Maintains unit schedule, grants leave for staff, and coordinates the provision of care.
- →Assists staff to fulfill performance expectations.
- →Leads interdisciplinary problem-solving at the area and /or program level.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 2-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
- ✓In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
- ✓Upon completion of your probationary period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
