About the Role
The Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership.
What You'll Do
- →The Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
- →Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organization's vision and mission.
- →Develops knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- →Duties include but not limited to: Drafts schedules and leave for final approval by the Nurse Manager.
- →Work with close supervision, is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and seeks direction from others as needed.
- →Manage workloads as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
- →Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care.
- →Assisting with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment.
- →Applying clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the Nurse Manager who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provides timely nursing care to that complies with generally accepted standards of practice.
- →Overseeing work assignments and providing reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the NM with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions.
- →Works with close supervision, is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and seeks direction from others as needed.
- →Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- ✓You may be required to complete a Pre-Employment Evaluation.
- ✓A drug test is required for the position.
- ✓The position is subject to random drug testing.
