About the Role

The Department of the Interior is currently seeking qualified candidates for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Assistant Director for Business Management and Administration located in Washington, DC. The Department structures its SES positions into categories to determine the minimum pay for each position. This is a category 3 position. The minimum pay for this position is $197,200. Veterans preference does not apply to the SES.

What You'll Do

  • The position is located in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at the Department of the Interior (Department) and reports to the Deputy Director for Administration and Programs.
  • The incumbent carries out the following specific responsibilities: 1.
  • The Assistant Director for Business Management and Administration serves as a principal participant along with the Director, Deputy Director, and Assistant Directors of the Bureau in formulating, developing, and refining major resources management and fiscal policies. 2.
  • The incumbent serves as the executive liaison for budget development and execution, oversight of fiscal assets, procurement, real/personal/information property, accounting principles and standards, organization management/analysis, strategic planning coordination, leadership in performance measurement, and process reengineering. 3.
  • The incumbent develops and formulates plans, activities, and initiatives designed to enhance and improve efficient and effective Bureau operations consistent with established rules, regulations, policies/procedures, and customer needs and requirements. 4.
  • The incumbent represents the BLM Director/Deputy Director in conferring with and deciding upon matters requiring cooperation with the Department, Committees of Congress, other Federal agencies, State, local and various private interests and stakeholders. 5.
  • The incumbent serves as the Designated Agency Safety and Health Official (DASHO) and provides executive leadership to enhance efficiency and reliability in Safety and Occupational Health Management and Emergency Management.
