IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD - TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is restricted to current Military members of the Iowa Army National Guard. LOCATION: CSMS, Johnston, IA
What You'll Do
- →As a ALLIED TRADES WORKER, WG-5801-8 your duties are below.
- →Performs complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied Trades Shops.
- →Operates various welding equipment to include wire welders, torches, stick welders, plasma cutters to perform minor welding tasks following accepted shop practices.
- →Uses jigs and fixtures in clamping pieces together to assemble and set up the part to be welded.
- →Repairs mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds.
- →Straightens, knocks out dents and creases, sands and finishes damaged parts.
- →Replaces broken or damaged windshields and windows.
- →Paints a wide variety of vehicles using standard methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.
- →Prepares surfaces by sanding and wire brushing.
- →Thins, stirs and mixes coating material.
- →Applies coating materials with brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
- →Modifies, repairs and makes canvas parts such as truck tarpaulin, machinery and equipment covers.
- →Repairs or makes new covers for upholstery on trucks, and other equipment.
- →Constructs and repairs boxes, pallets, wood bracing to be used in shipping and storage.
Requirements
- ✓NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard.
- ✓Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- ✓Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

- ✓TRIAL PERIOD REQUIREMENT: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 2-year trial period or 1-year (Veterans Preference Eligibles Only) during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

- ✓Upon completion of your trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
- ✓SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a clearance as required by this position.
- ✓If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date.
- ✓Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.
