About the Role

As an AST Fluid Systems Test engineer in the Exploration Systems and Operations Division, Environmental and Life Support Systems Branch, you will develop and execute tests and operations of fluid ground support and spacecraft systems for which the branch is responsible. You will conduct test, operations, and surveillance activities, ensure system performance and work execution meets all requirements, and provide technical insight into troubleshooting and problem resolution efforts

What You'll Do

  • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised.
  • Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Serves as a Lead Operations Engineer for pneumatic (gaseous nitrogen, gaseous helium, gaseous oxygen, breathing air) or environmental control systems in support of Artemis missions and associated sustaining and development projects.
  • Plans and leads major tests, vehicle operations, and surveillance activities.
  • Ensures all operations and maintenance are executed per requirements.
  • Provides thorough and timely authoring or review of work authorization documents.
  • Leads troubleshooting, problem resolution efforts, and cross-program technical interchanges.
  • Obtains and maintains required operations and launch team certifications.
  • Plans, conducts, and participates in system familiarization and launch team training.
  • Leads development of products to conduct Key Milestone Reviews, Certification of Flight Readiness Reviews, and Post Flight Assessment Reviews.

Requirements

  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
