About the Role
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) serves as a Medical Support for Business Office and has the ability to fully perform the duties/functions related to all aspects of the full performance Advanced Medical Support Assistant, GS-0679-06 position in Columbia and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) under the Business Office Line.

- →VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position is an administrative foundational role for any outpatient area throughout the facility.
- →To include but not limited to Call Center, Primary Care, Operator Suite, Medicine, Surgery, Mental Health, Radiology, Audiology, Dental, Spinal Cord, Rehabilitation, Nutrition, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), or any other non-Primary Care (PACT) area.
- →The purpose of the position is to facilitate health care needs, huddle with team members for directions, and respond to Veterans or family with instructions, appointments, or actions to be taken.The AMSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model within Outpatient Clinics.
- →The AMSA develops and maintains effective and efficient communication with the patient, interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model teams, VA medical centers, and other agencies.
- →The AMSA is responsible for setting priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet the team and patient needs; he/she works with the team to reinforce the plan of care and self-help solutions and entering appropriate information into the electronic record; monitoring pre-appointment requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure.
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Requirements
