About the Role
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Indianapolis VA Medical Center, is seeking a motivated individual to join the team as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (MSA). This position provides medical support responsibilities associated with the Community Care program and is responsible for coordinating medical care for patients receiving treatment outside of the Indianapolis VA Medical Center.

- →Provides medical administrative support to one or more outpatient clinics. b.
- →Effectively carry out day-to-day administrative operations relating to the authorization and scheduling of the Community Care. c.
- →Must provide excellent customer service and must adhere to VA local, National and Service policies and procedures. d.
- →Must have a thorough knowledge of enrollment, eligibility and beneficiary travel. e.
- →Supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs Identification of all patients f.
- →Explains the VA's mandate to collect insurance information to veterans, their families, and other eligible patients. g.
- →Must abide by federal privacy and confidentiality regulations and always exhibit ethical conduct h.
- →Incumbent must have knowledge of clinic procedures and regulations; basic medical terminology, skill in operating computer systems and applications, such as VistA, CPRS, CTM, PPMS, HSRM, and Microsoft applications i.
- →Maintains appointment schedules for all Community Care. j.
- →Obtains medical documentation from Community providers, scans to appropriate consult within CPRS and view alerts the VA providers for continuity of care. k.
- →Incumbent must screen/receive phone calls in a courteous and timely manner, l.
- →Authorize and schedule appointments, verifies eligibility, monitor pertinent folders in CTM in a timely manner. m.
- →Notifies his/her supervisor when clinic access is less than desirable or if an individual patient cannot be scheduled within mandated clinic timeframes. n.
Requirements
