About the Role
You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in the NAVWAR ACCOUNTING & FIAR DIVISION of NAVAL INFORMATION WARFARE SYSTEMS COMMAND.
What You'll Do
- →You will analyze complex and non-standard accounting transactions within the Navy ERP and other mission critical financial systems.
- →You will interpret and apply federal financial management regulations, Department of Defense policies, and Department of Navy accounting guidance to resolve complex, ambiguous, or unprecedented accounting issues.
- →You will resolve complex reconciliation issues and ensure data integrity across integrated financial systems.
- →You will identify reporting risks and recommend corrective actions to support audit readiness and financial statement reliability.
- →You will evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and recommends improvements to mitigate risks and strengthen audit readiness.
- →You will develop and deliver financial briefings, analyze and present to senior leadership and stakeholders, providing recommendations that support decision-making, resource allocation, and financial management strategies.
- →You will develop and implement improvements to accounting processes, financial data analysis, and reporting methodologies where existing guidance is insufficient.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include oneof the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
