About the Role

This position is located within the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS), Dental Service, at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The VASLCHCS comprises of a Medical Center located on an 80-acre campus with more than 19 separate buildings and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) throughout Utah, Southern Idaho, and Eastern Nevada. This administrative position reports to the Chief, Dentist Service.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to the following: Performs a variety of duties to carry out, administer or advise on work concerned with assuring the quality of Dental activities, business processes and delivery of services needed to carry out federal government programs and functions.
  • Responsible for the overall administration and coordination of program operations and personnel management activities for the Dental Service and has direct and substantial effect on the service through participation in internal and external policy development, implementation, and oversight.
  • Develops, interprets, and implements policies and procedures for program administration.
  • Assess program needs; determine, recommend, and helps implement organizational structure changes; and ensures that service-level business practices align with regulatory requirements and organizational priorities. requirements and organizational priorities.
  • Provide comprehensive support for personnel management processes, including coordinating recruitment and onboarding packages; assisting with position descriptions, functional statements, and classification requests; tracking and facilitating performance plans, proficiencies, and evaluations.
  • Plan, manage, and execute the budget for the Dental Service, provide oversight and consultation across all aspects of budgetary and financial management (formulation, justification, execution, and financial reporting).
  • Monitor time and leave practices in coordination with timekeepers.
  • Coordinate with Credentialing and Privileging staff to support dental provider credentialing, privileging, and ongoing professional practice evaluation requirements.
  • Monitor and oversee service-level supply and equipment management, including inventory control, ordering, receipt, and reconciliation of supplies and equipment, and serves as the approving official for purchases within delegated authority.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and other support services to ensure that Dental Service information systems, user accounts, and shared resources are appropriately configured and secured, and may control or monitor access to service-level computer network workgroups, applications, and data products.
  • Responsible for driving continuous quality improvement within the Dental Service and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework.
