The Administrative Officer for the Radiology Service reports directly to the Chief of the Radiology Service, providing administrative oversight of the service's diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology divisions. The Administrative Officer directly supervises 15-20 administrative support staff in the Radiology Service. This position coordinates and collates all data required by the Radiology Service for its quality management, suspense, productivity, and performance improvement needs.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Provides comprehensive administrative management for Radiology Service, including interpreting administrative policies, developing implementing or local policies, defining administrative requirements, and/or providing advice to the Chief of Radiology on related issues.
- →Develops and advises on administrative requirements for a large, complex interdisciplinary service.
- →Serves as the principal advisor for Radiology on all administrative management matters associated with service and operation, including organizational changes.
- →Actively participates in developing and implementing administrative management policies.
- →Advises on and recommends courses of action pertaining to administrative issues.
- →Assigns work, checks work-in-progress, and reviews final outcomes.
- →Manages human resources within the Service, including - but not limited to - recruitment, performance management, leave administration, compensation, benefits, employee conduct, and education.
- →Prepares and coordinates the preparation of managerial, financial, and statistical reports such as management briefings; Service quarterly reports to CO; reviews of credentialing and privileges for all Radiology Staff and consultants (includes WOC, WOC Staff, WOC Consultants); projection of equipment for replace; and periodic CMR reviews.
- →Prepares annual budget plan for all service control points.
- →Manages procurement and contracting for the Service, for example: preparing procurement requests, evaluating proposals for work, acting as a COTR for procurements, and/or maintaining procurement and contracting records.
- →Participates in the development and implementation of both long and short term policies and plans for the Service, giving special consideration to the integration of local, VISN, and Central Office (CO) administrative and clinical policies, and the standards and requirements of various regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- →Collaborates with the Tech Administrator and Chief Technologist to ensure that policies are up to date and compliant with VA Directives and Program Policies as well as TJC requirements.
- →Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
- →Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
