About the Role

The VA Long Beach Health Care System is recruiting for an Administrative Officer (Business Manager) within Social Work Service. The incumbent will have full responsibility for administrative functioning of Social Work Service through effective utilization of all available resources to provide the best possible Veteran care. What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to: Manages the administrative support staff of the Social Work Service.
  • Supervises at minimum six administrative employees.
  • Responsible for the issuance of instructions, assignments, and duties to administrative support staff.
  • Responsible for the prioritization of administrative support needs across the service and ensures that workload is assigned in a manner that best meets the requirements of the organization.
  • Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
  • Responsible for assistance with making selections, coordinating orientations, performance, providing information for counseling and evaluations, productivity, continuing education, and succession planning.
  • Applies Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination.
  • Responsible for formulation and execution of annual budget including salaries, contracts, travel, supplies, equipment, and all other general operating expenses.
  • Gathers and analyzes budget needs of Social Work Services and supervises all phases of budgeting within administrative requirements.
  • Assembles and compiles budget Information and maintains running account of funds allocated and expended in all sub accounts and makes interim adjustments where necessary by applying the basic knowledge and understanding of budgetary policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Pulls provider workload data and performance for Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP) evaluations and re-credentialing, such as provider specific productivity, provider specific workload, clinic consult closure, and other medical record delinquency metrics.
  • Responsible for constant surveillance, evaluation and planning to ensure efficient utilization of space based on constantly changing and ever-increasing program demands.
  • Responsible for procurement and contracting in Social Work Service.
  • Serves as the primary Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
