About the Role
This Registered Nurse-Health Education Coordinator position is located in Nursing, Hospital Education at the VA Connecticut Healthcare Systems, located in West Haven, CT. This position will also serve as the facility Health Promotion Disease Prevention Manager. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week.
What You'll Do
- →The Veteran Health Education Coordinator (VHEC) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based Veteran health education.
- →The VHEC RN understands instructional design, implementation, and application related to Veteran Health education needs and training.
- →This position will also serve as the facility Health Promotion Disease Prevention Manager.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Delivers a fundamental understanding of Veteran-centered health education and adult learning principles and is a lifelong partner that can practice flexibility to adapt or change learning strategies based on the assessment of health education and learning needs within the healthcare organization.
- →Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

- →Notifications: This position is a AFGE Bargaining Unit position.
- →Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50 (Notice of Personnel Action).
- →The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
- →In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.
- →This position is in the Excepted Service.
- →The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Note: Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S.
