About the Role
The Northeast Ohio VA Healthcare System is recruiting for a Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager). The Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of the Emergency Department.
What You'll Do
- →The Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager duties include but are not limited to: At the direction of the Nurse Manager (NM), the Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) acts as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the management and operation of the Emergency department.
- →Assists the NM with comprehensive oversight of the clinic's staffing, delivery of patient care and quality outcomes.
- →Responsible for contributing to the implementation of evidence-based nursing standards of practice and role-modeling expert care provision.
- →Creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff.
- →Contributes to the evaluation of the clinic's nursing productivity, staffing methodology and improving systems/workflow.
- →Maintains ethical management practice related to fairness, equity, relationships, payroll and timekeeping.
- →Precepts and assists with staff orientation, annual competencies, continuing education, and ongoing evaluation; ensures all mandatory education/TMS is completed timely.
- →Provides input for staff proficiencies and performance reviews according to facility and nationally-mandated timeframes with oversight from the NM.
- →Initiates/participates in quality improvement activities which result in improved outcomes.
- →RN responsibilities include: Emergency Department - This position provides care to Veterans for acute and urgent medical problems and referrals to primary care for Veterans requesting primary care.
- →Psychiatric emergencies are triaged and referred to psychiatric specialty as PES (Psychiatric Emergency Services).
- →The Registered Nurse - Emergency Department CDT is accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
