About the Role
James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital is seeking Registered Nurses for the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). These RNs provide evidence-based mental health care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for Veterans in outpatient services. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, may work on specialty mental health teams, and support treatment through clinical care, education, coordination, and ongoing monitoring.
What You'll Do
- →The Mental Health Outpatient RN delivers safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care to Veterans receiving psychiatric and behavioral health services in an outpatient setting.
- →This role supports comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, medication management, crisis intervention, and care coordination to foster recovery, independence, and improved mental health outcomes.
- →The RN works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care that adheres to VHA standards and policies.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
