About the Role
Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process, influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team, and executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches, and systematically evaluates current practice. Demonstrates the following core informatics functions to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, and change management.
What You'll Do
- →Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: The Informaticist Registered Nurse (RN) exercises leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications.
- →The Informaticist collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network.
- →They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide.
- →The Informaticist is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level.
- →Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility, Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN), or Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO), illustrating performance and leadership that benefit the facility.
- →Preferred Experience: 1 years working in a Nursing Informatics specific role 1 years working in an Informatics service Proven expertise in health informatics, including EHR implementation, optimization, and interoperability, preferably within a healthcare system such as the VA.
- →Experience in building and maintaining effective partnerships with IT, Biomed, clinical services, administrative, and external entities (vendors, affiliates, other healthcare systems) to support informatics initiatives while in an Informatics specific role.
- →Practical experience in a healthcare clinical environment (or extensive collaboration with clinicians), demonstrating understanding of clinical workflows, practices, policies, and needs.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
